Real Madrid have started preparing for the summer transfer window and one of the area they see as a priority is the defence, Relevo report.
In particular, there are increasing doubts regarding Ferland Mendy‘s future at the club as the Merengues consider selling the player. With a contract until 2025, it might be the right time to do so if they want to get a proper transfer fee.
Madrid have already identified two possible replacements — Fran Garcia and Miguel Gutierrez. The club will make a decision based on how they perform until the end of the season.
Real Madrid have a €5m buy-back option on Garcia. As for Gutierrez, the club retains a 50% future sale option so he would cost €20m if we were to trigger his release clause.
