Speaking about where he wants to retire at the end of his career, Luka Modric said: “For now, I’m at the World Cup and very focused on Croatia.

“What happens next, let’s see, there’s enough time to talk about everything. Of course I want to retire in Madrid, I’ve said that many times.

“You can’t say anything for 100%, but that’s my idea, and it’s a dream for me.”

Modric’s current contract expires at the end of the season, but Real Madrid might give him another contract extension after being impressed by his performances.

The 37-year-old midfielder is currently focused on helping Croatia get to their second-successive World Cup final by defeating Argentina on Tuesday.
